Panaji, Jun 13 (GCCurrentAffairs) The Congress in Goa on Thursday refuted claims made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa unit President Vinay Tendulkar that its ten MLAs had proposed to join the ruling party.
Addressing a press conference at the party state headquarters in the city, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar termed the statement as ‘blatantly false’ and accused Mr Tendulkar of lying.
“At one time he says that two Congress MLAs are in touch with him. Then he says four MLAs are in touch.
fterwards he says that the BJP is not in touch with any opposition MLAs and finally comes up with a blatant lie on Wednesday that 10 Congress MLAs had offered to merge in the BJP. BJP cannot rule without lying. It cannot run a party without lying. Lying has become their speciality. They want to win elections on the basis of lying,” he said.
Mr Chodankar claimed that Mr Tendulkar had confused himself with all the lies he had uttered.
On Wednesday, Mr Tendulkar had claimed that ten Congress MLAs had met him and offered him to merge the legislative unit into BJP but the same was refused by the high command.
During the last two years, five MLAs (three from Congress and two from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), have joined BJP.
