Kamat was speaking after inaugurating The Goa Eco Tourism and Agricultural Co-Op Society Ltd at Keri in Sattari, on Sunday.
Focusing on the need to expose existing hinterland tourism in Goa, he said the initiative taken by the Speaker to set up this society is first of its kind in Goa and said the integration of eco tourism and agriculture activities will open up a new horizon and play a key role as new employment for rural areas.
Speaker and Chairman of The Goa Eco Tourism and Agriculture Co-operative Society Pratapsingh Rane said, Sattari has its own natural beauty therefore there is tremendous scope for eco tourism along with mechanized agriculture in this area. He said farmers should take up agriculture as a business by making optimum use of modern techniques. He said educated unemployed youth should not run after the jobs but should take benefits of agricultural schemes to venture into self employment.
Rane stated that the aim and objective of this society is to provide training and agricultural equipments to the farmers which will help in developing eco tourism in the area.
Home Minister Ravi Naik said that tourism and agriculture sector provide direct and indirect employment to a large number of youth and requested Agriculture and Tourism Departments to guide the younger generation in these sectors and generate employment in this area.
Agriculture Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the Government has initiated various schemes and programmes for the promotion of agriculture activities and tourism in a state and appealed to the people of Keri to avail of the benefit of the society for the development of the area.
