Panaji, December 8(GCCurrentAffairs): A day after exit poll results in five States which went for the elections were out, Congress party has said that Goa fiasco of turning the people’s mandate during 2017 State Assembly Election by BJP has worked against the Amit Shah led party nationally.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar said that after 2017 Goa Legislative Assembly Elections, BJP turned the mandate of people by forming the government by backdoor and is now busy protecting the same government which has been falling apart due to deteriorating health of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
“The unfruitful attempts by Governor Mridula Sinha to allow ailing CM Manohar Parrikar will fetch no gain for the BJP on the contrary Goa fiasco has contributed to the loss of BJP nationally,” Chodankar said on Saturday.
“Indian people did not like the way BJP overturned People’s mandate and forced ailing CM to continue resulting in non Governance in Goa,” he said.
Congress party on Saturday said that the exit poll results in the States which went for polls recently is a warning for BJP against their plans of dissolving the State Legislative Assembly in Goa.
Chodankar said that State Governor Mridula Sinha should allow Congress to prove its majority on the floor of the House, before even thinking to dissolve the Assembly.
The Opposition party had feared that BJP might dissolve Goa Legislative Assembly owing to the ill health of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and infighting amongst the coalition partners – Goa Forward Party and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party.
Exit polls Friday predicted a tight finish between the BJP and the Congress in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, and a win for the opposition party in Rajasthan. They also predicted that the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana will retain power. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are all ruled by the BJP presently.
“The exit poll surveys have clearly indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his party and his party president Amit Shah is rejected by the voters in the recently held polls,” Chodankar said.
The Congress leader said that though the formal results of these states are yet to be out, the exit polls are clear warning for BJP to distract from its earlier plan of dissolving Goa Legislative Assembly.
“Congress has time and again said that it is having required numbers to form the government and would be able to show it on the floor of the House,” he recalled.
He said that this is also a signal for those political parties trying to protect the non-performing government that voters will send them back home during the next election, if they don’t correct their way at this juncture.
“Parrikar government has taken the voters for granted for almost two years now. The Governance has come to standstill and Secretaries of the Chief Minister are ruling the State taking advantage of his sickness,” he alleged.
Congress party in Goa has began ‘Jan Akrosh rallies’ in each of the constituencies where it is holding public meetings demanding restoration of governance in the State.
“Congress party during its Jan Akrosh Rally has reached out to the common people who narrate the tales of misgovernance and how the administration has collapsed in all the talukas,” he said.
