New Delhi: Goa Forward Party (GFP) has filed a petition in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) over the Mhadei River dispute.
This step comes one-hour before all Goa party delegation meeting with Union Minister of MoEF Prakash Javdekar at Shashtri Bhavan.
MoEF had given the Karnataka government an Environmental Clearance for a construction to divert water from the Mhadei River.
MoEF minister had tweeted about this development which has led to a huge uproar in Goa with people objecting to the high-handedness of the Centre and callousness of the state government.
GFP in its petition has also made Goa and Karnataka government respondents.
GFP president and Fatorda MLA expressed, “Goa Chief Minister’s statement diluting MoEF’s approval means sacrificing Goa’s interest at the altar of by-polls in the Karnataka.
