Goa government can bring down petrol price by Rs 10: AICC Desk-in-Charge Dr Chellakumar
Goa Congress National Desk-in-Charge Dr Chella Kumar has advised the Goa government to reduce the petrol price by Rs 10 in the state by removing VAT on petrol a promised in their election manifesto.
Talking to the Goan media Dr Chellakumar who is also the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary said, “In their election manifesto BJP had said that they will remove VAT (Value Added Tax). Now the state government is also getting lots of benefit because of the hike in the price. The state government can reduce the price by Rs 10 today itself and give benefit to the common man.”
The price of petrol had gone to the highest level and that was the reason that Congress party could not wait for months together and called for Bharat Bandh, the senior party leader said.
However, Goa Congress Unit did not participate in the Bharat Bandh called for by the Congress party at the Centre, the local leaders decide to opt for distributing pamphlets on the issue of hike in fuel prices.
Dr Chellakumar said if Congress came to power at the Centre in 2019, it would bring down prices of the petroleum products.
Members of Pradesh Mahila Congress also distributed 3,000 pamphlets in Margao in South Goa.
The members of Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress protested at three petrol pumps in South Goa district against the BJP governmet. They protested and distributed pamphlets against the price rise of petrol, diesel, gas and other essential commodities.
