Goa Governor Mridula Sinha convened a meeting at Raj Bhavan on Thursday to chalk out the Gandhi Samagra programme which will be held in Goa in commemoration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Governor said the aim of the programme was to propagate the principles of Mahatma Gandhi and the Gandhi philosophy among the people of Goa and adapt them to contemporary times to make them relevant.
Dr Sinha said the programme was aimed at spreading Gandhiji’s legacy among the people of Goa, especially among the youth and students.
As part of the programme, Prabhat ferries would be held culminating at a prominent place where flagship programmes of the Government would be discussed. Besides, wall paintings, street plays and essay competitions have also been planned.
Secretary to the Governor, Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, Chief Secretary, Dharmendra Sharma, IAS, Secretary Education, Nila Mohanan, IAS, Special Secretary (Home), Anjali Sehrawat, IAS, Vice-Chancellor of Goa University, Varun Sahni, were among those present at the meeting.
