Goa Govt Issues notice to Sunaparant Executive Editor

The Department of Information and Publicity, Government of Goa has issued a notice to the Executive Editor, Babli Naik, of the Sunaparant newspaper to refund the amount of Rs 25000 he has availed as part of the Government ‘Patrakar Kritadnyata Nidhi Scheme’ as it was a violation under Rule 2 (c) of the PKN Scheme.

Rule 2 (c) of the PKN Scheme states that a journalist has availed of benefits offered by the Goa government from some other scheme already in operation for general citizens such as Kanyadan Scheme, CMRY, Medi-Claim etc, shall be ineligible for availing the scheme for the same purpose.

This information was brought to the notice of the DoIP through a complaint made by Sanjay Borkar. In his complaint he stated that Naik had already availed a benefit of Rs 1, 23,186 under the Medi-Claim from the Goa Health Department.

Naik has been given 15 days to return the money availed by him.
