Panjim. Sept 22 (GCNews) A report released by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with Young Lives has identified Goa as a state with the highest prevalence of child pregnancies amongst teenage girls in the country.
Shockingly 64.4 per cent of teenage girls interviewed in Goa had child pregnancies. This was due to the fact that they got married at an early age according to the report.
The NCPCR report has also revealed that Goa featured along with six other states where more than 30 per cent of the child marriages took place in wealthy households.
