Goa Health Department ropes in NGO to counsel COVID-19 recovered patient to donate blood plasma

Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Friday said that to encourage recovered COVID patients to donate plasma, the health ministry will be roping in an NGO for counselling such patients.

In a tweet, he said he would be holding a meeting with MLAs from notified containment zone constituencies to appeal all recovered COVID patients to donate Plasma.

‘To encourage recovered COVID patients to donate plasma, the health ministry will be roping in an NGO for counselling such patients. We shall also hold a meeting with MLAs from notified containment zone constituencies to appeal all recovered COVID patients to donate Plasma,’ Rane tweeted.

He said a formal note on the same had been sent to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take it up on a state-level platform.

‘Health Ministry, Government of Goa, in view of the meeting with the expert committee on COVID-19, has announced some significant measures to tackle the virus. Team Goa is united in this fight and we are moving forward head on to provide our citizens with quality care and facilities,’ he said.

The minister had on August 28, 2020, said that taking inspiration from Gujarat government to encourage patients to donate plasma, health department would be felicitating plasma donors with an appreciation certificate and ensuring special health incentives for family members.

‘Goa will lead by example in encouraging patients to donate Plasma,’ he had said.
