Goa Legislator blames ‘Foreign Tourists’ for stray dog menace

Calangute MLA of the ruling BJP-led government Michael Lobo in a discussion in the House of Assembly blamed the foreign tourists for the stray dog menace in the state.

In a reasoning that could have some truth to it but overall puts the foreign tourists in an uncalled for negative spotlight, Lobo, said, “Foreign tourists who spend a long time in the state, adopt dogs because their fondness for them. However, when they leave Goa, they leave the same dogs behind as strays and they have become the main cause of concerns and a nuisance in different tourist areas, including beaches.”

The Chief Minister has assured the House that he would ensure that this stray dog menace will be kept in check and will meet with all MLAs and concerned NGOs to find a solution to this.
