Goa Milk Associations support hike in prices

Supporting the recent hike in Goa dairy’s milk prices, the Goa Rajya Doodh Utpadak Utkarsha Sanghatana, a milk producers association, has claimed that the hike was inevitable as production costs have gone up. The association has also written to chief minister Digambar Kamat to raise the support price to Rs 5 a litre.

{jcomments on}Rajesh Desai, a milk producer in Ponda and also a former secretary of the association, said that they have submitted a memorandum to Goa dairy on Friday supporting the hike in milk prices. Stating that the support price given by the state government is very little Desai demanded that it be increased.
The government at present gives a support price of. <span class=”WebRupee”>Rs</span> 1.60 to .<span class=”WebRupee”>Rs</span> 1.80 a litre depending upon the content of fat in the milk.
Desai also expressed disappointment over the Yuva Sangharsha Samiti’s opposition to the hike in milk prices.
Meanwhile, the samiti on Friday submitted a memorandum to Ponda mamlatdar Gaurish Kuttikar demanding a rollback in the hike in milk prices. A delegation of the samiti met the mamlatdar and handed it over to him.
