Goa Police registers case against Taxi Operators for assaulting Goa Miles counter-staff

The Dabolim airport police on Tuesday booked a case against a group of five taxi operators for threatening and assaulting counter staff and driver of the newly introduced App-based taxi service.

According to the police, the Airport staff of Goa Miles taxi service had lodged a complaint against Yellow and Black taxi operators for assault and threatening their staff and drivers.

Police today registered offence against five persons including Sanjay Naik( President of United Taximen Association (UTA), a union of the Yellow-Black taxi operators at Dabolim International Airport), and other four members of UTA including Anand Pednekar, Dinesh Shetye, Ibrahim Shaikh and Chandu Gaad. All of them have been booked under section 143, 431, 504, 506(II) read with 34 IPC.

Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo, who is holding additional charge of Dabolim airport police station said, “We have also decided to approach RTO seeking cancellations of permits issued to accused taxi operators involved in the case. Currently, we have kept enough police presence to maintain law and order situation at the airport.”
