Goa Police To commence Programmes Against Drug Abuse

Goa Police in collaboration with Muktangan Rehabilitation Center, Pune and Narcotics Control Bureau, Goa will launch a year-long campaign on 27th June as part of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” which is observed every year on 26th June.
This year’s theme by United Nations Office for Drug and Crime (UNODC) is ‘Think Health – Not Drugs’ based on which the programmes would be on modules of addiction, stress management, career guidance and personality development to reach out to our future generations.
The statistics for the past five years indicate that the problem of substance abuse is increasing amongst young children, adolescents and women and the average age of substance users is decreasing.
The main reason behind this trend is social acceptance and changing attitude within the society about the usage of alcohol and smoking
To achieve desirable results and positive environment, Muktangan with the support of Goa Police and Narcotics Control Bureau will conduct awareness programs and life style guidance at various schools and colleges all over the State.
