Goa ranked best governed state by PAC


Panaji, Oct 26 (GCCurrentAffairs) Goa has ranked the best governed state in small states category by Public Affairs Centre (PAC) in its Public Affairs Index (PAI).

According to a statement from the government, performance of Goa in all pillars has been above average. In the PAI it was noted the state appeared among the top three in 21 indicators, with majority of the indicators belonging to the growth pillar.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant expressed happiness as Goa was ranked the best governed small state by public Affairs Centre.

He said,”This award is testimony to our Ex-Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar’s dedication towards progress and development of Goa. we are truly committed to carry forward legacy of late Parrikar.”

PAC also mentioned that the state performed well in diverse sectors such as lower drop, lesser slums, reduction in infants deaths, lower incidence of crimes against women, increase in growth rate of GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) per capita, better solid waste management etc.

The state is at the bottom three in 12 indicators with majority of the indicators belonging to the equity pillar.
PAI 2019 recommended the state to focus on the functioning of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme, especially to improve health, education and nutritional outcome for the children.

Public Affairs Centre engages in action research focusing on sustainable development goals in the context of India. PAC was established in 1994 with mandate to improve the quality of governance in India.

  1. The jury must be blind and stupid. The roads are non existent, there is garbage everywhere, the domestic tourists create a mess and yet there is no one to regulate the massive traffic jams or disorderly hordes. The Government is alseep, Never has Goa been this broken..Sad to see that a state once the pride of India has become like any other in India.
