Goa taking new strides under leadership of PM Modi: Parrikar

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister and his government, the state was making new strides and he thanked the Prime Minister for the same.

In his Independence Day greetings, the Chief Minister said,”Under the leadership of Prime Minister and his government, Goa could make new strides. I thank the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for it and express hope that he continues to support us in the coming years.”

He said the state had reached a different level altogether at every parameter vis a vis infrastructure thanks to Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 crore assistance from the Centre.

“Mandovi bridge, Zuari Bridge, National Highway 17, National Highway 4A, in all these places people can see a lot of development and the projects will be completed at a predecided time, without delay in a year or two,” he said, adding work on the Mopa Airport had begun and the airport would begin in the next two years, which would ease the congestion at Dabolim.

“In the education sector, we have tried a lot to improve quality. Along with value education, civi secnce person hygiene, traffic sense, garbage manegement we are teaching from school, so that the values inculcated at a young age can help create a new Goa,” he said.

The Chief Minister said, “In the health sector, the Ayushman Bharat scheme and our Deendayal Samajik Suraksha Yojana, under it, Goans have a new vista vis a vis health. Now super speciality hospitals, cancer hospital will be build in Goa with the help of the central government. In the coming years, on the health paraameter, Goa will be a well performing state.”

Parrikar said this year the government had planned a new action plan for employment for youth involving affirmative action, which involved providing employment subsidy for industries which employ Goan youth.

“I hope that in the coming one or two years, there will be no unemployed youth in Goa. We will announce a policy for employment and we hope that there will be a new sense of enthusiasm created. If we want to use independence judiciously, we need to do all these things right. To do this, your support is necessary,” he said.
