Goa to file contempt petition against Karnataka over Mhadei
Goa Water Resources Minister Vinod Palyekar on Tuesday said that the state government will file a contempt petition before the Mahadayai Water Dispute Tribal as Karnataka has already diverted the flow of the Mhadei water at Kalsa-Bhandura.
Speaking to reporters, he said,’Our team will file in court tomorrow an application, including contempt of court, before the Tribunal. Digging work has been carried out the Kalsa-Bhanduri nullah and the flow of (Mhadei) water towards Goa has been stopped and has been diverted towards the Malaphrabha (river) basin. Therefore we are filing an application and contempt of court before Tribunal.”
The three neighbouring states– Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra — are having a dispute over the Kalsa-Bhandura dam project across River Mhadei at the tribunal.
