British Member of Parliament (MP) Keith Vaz of Goan origin is being investigated by the Scotland Yard for making illegal earnings of £ 500,000.
While the investigative authority Scotland Yard were not willing to divulge any further information about their on going investigations, GoaChronicle.com has learnt through reliable media sources in UK currently following up on the case, that half-a-million pounds of a suspicious nature were paid into various accounts held by Vaz over the last years and that the sources of funds were never declared publicly.
Interestingly, the Scotland Yard is keenly investigating the source of funds and its probable connection to India (in particular Goa). Being of Goan origin Vaz is known to share a cordial relationships with several Goans including politicians (some tainted).
In recent time prior to the Goa Assembly Elections 2012, Vaz during his personal visit to the state attend an election rally organised by the Alemaos and even encouraged the people of the Benaulim constituency to vote for Congress spokesperson Valanka Alemao – daughter of former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao. The issue had created some partial diplomatic tension in the state, which was eventually sorted out since it was a personal visit.
