Samira Abraham of Goa, who was recently crowned National Champion in the women’s section of the Senior National Triathlon Championship, has been selected to represent India at the 2018 Pokhara NTT ASTC South Asian Triathlon Championship by the Indian Triathlon Federation (ITF).
The South Asian Triathlon Championship, conducted by the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC), will be held in Pokhara, Nepal, on Saturday 28 April 2018.
Two men and two women comprise the Indian squad. Pragna Mohan of Gujarat, who stood second at the Nationals, is the second woman. S Bishworjit Singh and K S H Minachandra, both of the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), are the men. India has good chances of bagging medals in both categories, as well as in the mixed relay event.
At the National Championship in Visakhapatnam on February 11 this year, Samira’s overall timing was 2 hours 30 minutes and 4 seconds — 27.45 min for 1.5km swimming; 1 hour 10 minutes and 16 seconds for 40km cycling, and 51.05 minutes for the 10 km run.
