Goenchea Rakhondarancho Avaz (GRA) on Sunday launched their awareness campaign in Salcete for the rally planned on 15th March at Azad Maidan, Panjim to protest against the “anti-Goa and anti-Goan policies of the government”.
GRA which is a lose cobbling of various organizations fighting their different battles with the government, has come to the conclusion that Special Status for Goa is the only solution to the various problems facing the State.
“The root cause of all the problems can be traced to the land in Goa,” said Yatish Naik of the Pilerne Citizens’ Forum that spearheaded the formation of GRE.
A four day programme of visiting each and every village in Salcete to create an awareness of the ills plaguing Goa and the need to voice the protest has been chalked out and on Sunday the coastal belt was targeted.
A vehicle mounted with a collage of pictures depicting garbage problem, degradation of environment and other ills moves with people on two-wheelers following and pamphlets urging people to participate in the rally on 15th March are distributed at various places where there is a crowd.
As the awareness drive started late in Margao on Sunday, the ward of Madel in Margao was dropped and the caravan proceeded straight to Seraulim from where Betalbatim, Utorda, Majorda and Velsao were to be covered before lunch.
