The Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa has formulated a new scheme ‘Sanjeevani’ in the State with an objective to provide financial support to the organizations running Homes for Senior Citizens in order to promote shelter and maintenance at a common place and to provide healthy, hygienic and better living.
Any voluntary organizations/Non Governmental Organizations engaged in the promotion of Welfare of Senior Citizens registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 or under Public Trust Act or registered under any law for time being in force for at least three years prior to date of making an application under the scheme can avail of the benefit of the scheme. Institutions or organizations set up by the government as autonomous body either under a statute or as a society registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 will also be eligible under the scheme.
Under this scheme grants-in-aid up to Rs. 5.93 lakh per annum for projects to run home for minimum 25 senior citizens including staff, food, rent, care, recreation facilities, etc is provided.
The Directorate has also formulated ‘Scheme of Scholarship to Students Pursing Home Nursing Courses’ for General Category with an objective to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students in order to enable them to purse Home Nursing Course. i.e. Certificate Course in Home with duration of at least six months, Diploma in Home Nursing with a duration of one year or more, Degree in Nursing with a duration of three years and Health Worker Course with a duration of one year or more and scholarship is provided ranging from Rs. 3,500/- to Rs. 10,000/- or whichever is less.
The scholarship will be awarded to regular students of Goan origin whose parent or guardian does not exceed an income of Rs. 1.50 lakh per annum.
