The State Government has issued show cause notices on Tuesday to two casinos ‘Casino Royale’ owned by High Street Cruises and Entertainment Private Limited and ‘Arabian Sea King’ owned by Victor Hotels and Motels Limited even though the latter has already been moved from the Mandovi River. The show cause notice questions why no action should be taken against them in the absence of license from the Director General of Shipping. The operators of both these casinos have been asked to reply within seven days.
Meanwhile, the government has cancelled the license of ‘Rio’ owned by Golden Globe Hotels Private Limited as it has failed to pay the annual fee of Rs 5 crore to the government.
The vessels were seen anchored in the Mandovi River despite government’s decision to reposition them as per the High Court directives.
