Panaji: Goa Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant on Friday said that government was planning to introduce the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by June next year.
Speaking to reporters outside his official residence in the city, he said three sub committees formed to examine the issue of education infrastructure and finalisation of a new syllabus in sync with the policy had been asked to submit their reports by February next year.
The Chief Minister said, he had sought updates via a virtual conference with members of a 27-member committee formed by the Education Ministry to specially examine the policy on Friday.
“The three sub committees have been appointed to give recommendations for pre-primary, secondary and Higher Secondary Education. They should study the infrastructure available in Goa. They will also examine the issue of the new syllabus”, he said.
“We expect them to submit their respective reports by February-end. We should be in a position to implement the new policy by June”, Dr Sawant, who also holds education portfolio said.
The 27-member committee, headed by former Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar, has been tasked with preparing a roadmap for the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
