Govt Accepts A&W Single Airport Report; Mopa Airport Global Tenders by Jan
The Amman & Whitney report focuses on details pertaining to economic viability of the Mopa Airport without taking into consideration the presence of the already existing Dabolim airport.
However, GoaChronicle.com is finding it strange that the Goa government has decided to accept the A & W report, since, in our interaction with the Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar had categorically stated that another economic viability and feasibility report would be required since he personally had questions on the A&W report.
While the CM has given repeated assurances to the people that both Dabolim Airport and Mopa Airport would co-exist; it is difficult to believe that the government has completely overlooked the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) report which raises very serious doubts to the economic viability of two airports taking into fact the passenger in-flow into the state.
A & W report claims that within the first three-year of its operations Mopa Airport will be able to do over 20 million passengers, from the current 3.5 million passengers at Dabolim Airport at this point.
