Chief Minister Digambar Kamat while asserting that the government employees have no moral right to strike work, urged them to withdraw the strike and resume duties immediately.
Speaking to media persons, he pointed out that Goa was one of the first five States to implement the VI Pay Commission recommendations to its employees even though it was not fully equipped to bear the additional burden of Rs 300 crore it entailed.
He said everybody, ranging from the peon to the LDC has been given the VI Pay Commission’s recommended scale and therefore asserted that the employees had no right to strike work.
He also blamed the Goa Government Employees Association of misleading the people and said that what was being demanded was not implementation of VI Pay Commission recommendation but parity of scales with the Secretariat staff.
The Chief Minister revealed that he has asked for a report on why the Secretariat staff is given a higher scale than the other government employees and assured that once the report is received necessary action will be taken.
