Various speakers at a public meeting held at Azad Maidan, Panjim on Sunday evening condemned the government’s handling of the agitation by Baba Ramdev at New Delhi and asserted that it was an attempt to suppress the growing voices against corruption.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary Vishnu Surya Wagh said it was time to kick out the Congress government from power.
Among other speakers to condemn the incident were Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar and noted advocate Satish Sonak who is actively associated with the India Against Corruption movement.
BJP Condemns: Meanwhile the Bharatiya Janata Party officially condemned the government action and alleged that Congress ministers fearing that their corruption would be exposed manipulated the government in doing what it did.
Matanhy Too Condemns: Former minister Matanhy Saldanha also condemned the incident and said swooping down on the agitators in the middle of night was reminiscent of the Nazi campaign against Jews.
While condemning Kapil Sibal and Digvijay Singh for their statements that Ramdev should stick to yoga and not venture into politics, Saldanha said the Congress has gone into an autocratic mode and urged all people to come out openly against corruption.
