Govt gives financial assistance to Dhangar families displaced due to Mopa Airport

Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar handed over cheque amounting to Rs 20 lakh to five families from the Dhangar community displaced by the Mopa International Airport at a function held at Pernem in North Goa on Thursday.

According to a statement from the government here, also a cheque of Rs 5.84,16,111 was given to Devi Satteri Devasthan at Casarvanem in Pernem for having acquired their land by the government to rehabilitate dhangar families.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajgaonkar thanked the members of Devasthan for giving land to the Dhangar community and said providing rehabilitation had been a big relief to the families of Dhangar community.

Pernem Deputy Collector Sudhir Kerkar informed that 36,800 square meters of land had been acquired at Casarvanem for 14 families belonging to Dhangar community.
