Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday said that Digambar Kamat led Congress government should maintain status quo on the Medium of Instruction (MoI) issue rather than coming to a conclusion in haste.
NCP’s Goa Observer Bharati Chawan said that till a committee of experts decides on the issue, the State Government should maintain status quo on the issue. He also said that the State Government should revert its decision to allow English as the MoI, till experts give their views.
NCP which is a coalition partner in Congress-led government in the state said that this issue which is of much significance and emotional one, needs to be handled by the experts.
Chawan admitted that there are differences within NCP members on this issue and further said that the ministers may have their personal opinions but as a party, NCP feels that the state government should hold back its decision.
The Sharad Pawar-led NCP has decided to meet Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Friday and express their stand.
