GPSCB issues directions to stop operations to South West Port & Adani Mormugao Port

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who also holds Environment portfolio, has informed the state assembly that Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has issued directions to South West Port Limited to stop operations and also reduced handling of Adani Mormugao Port Terminals Limited (AMPTL) and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) by 25 per cent.

In a written reply in response to a question tabled by Congress MLA from Curtorim Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, the chief minister said the GSPCB had initiated Source Apportionment study from IIT Mumbai.

The Goa State Pollution Control Board has sought names of reputed agencies from Directorate of Health Services and Goa Medical College (GMC) for conducting health study, he said, adding three Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (CAAQMS) Stations were installed at Mormugao Port and Vasco Da Gama.
