The National Youth Day was observed by the Goa State Aids Control Society (GSACS)in association with Saraswat Vidyalaya’s Sridora Caculo College of Commerce and Management Studies, Khorlim, Mapusa; to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on Wednesday. The theme of the event was ‘Young Blood Donors Bring Ray Of Hope’.
Chief Guest Dilip Betkekar said that the youth are the backbone of the country. He advised the students to follow Swami Vivekananda’s ideals and philosophy. His principles if emulated will be a great source of inspiration for the younger generation to achieve success in life, he said. He further added that youth should possess leadership qualities and work fearlessly and face the challenges and problems boldly.
Addressing the gathering Goa Aids Control Society Project Director Dr Pradeep Padwal said that pure blood is essential for saving human life. He appealed to the youth to develop in them a sense of donating blood voluntarily so that they could live a healthy life and save the lives of others as well.
Stating that prevention is better than cure, Dr Padwal advised the students to adopt precautionary approach in their day to day life. This is necessary not only to maintain good health but also to keep themselves away from getting inflicted from various dreaded diseases, he said.
