GSCW Demands Women Police Station In South Goa

Goa State Commission for Women Chairperson Ezilda Sapeco while acknowledging the need to have a women’s police station in South Goa also said that at least one lady police officer was required at all the police stations in the district.
After inspecting the police stations at Canacona, Cuncolim, Colva and Margao, she said there was an urgent need to appoint at least one lady officer at each of these police stations.

She said the Commission will compile a report on the conditions at the police station particularly with regard to the cells available for women.
She pointed out that the pathetic condition of the cell for women at Bicholim police station was immediately attended to after the commission had complained about it, she hoped similar action will be taken in Margao where the cell is used by both the Margao Town as well as Maina Curtorim Police stations.
