Panaji, Sep 24 (GCBusiness) Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) has signed a contract with Port Shipping and Aviation, Administration Union Territory (UT) of Lakshadweep for building of carrier vessels for 2,000 LPG cylinders.
According to a statement here, the vessel is intended to transport LPG cylinders from mainland to Lakshadweep Islands.
Chairman and Managing Director of Goa Shipyard Limited Cmde B B Nagpal, NM, and Dr Shashipal Dabas, DANICS, Director of Port Shipping and Aviation, UT Lakshadweep, signed the contract at Kochi on September 23, 2019.
The vessel will be designed and built as Twins Screw vessel for carrying LPG Cylinders. It will be capable of transporting 2000 Domestic LPG cylinders or 60 tons of packed petroleum products in barrels above deck level from mainland to various Islands of U.T of Lakshadweep. The vessel is designed to operate at speed of 11 Knots with an endurance of 10 days and can carry a complement of 18 personnel onboard. The contract was won through competitive bidding, the statement added.
