Hamirpur (HP): After a full week that witnessed dry days during which temperature rose sharply and caused much damage to the forests due to the fires, the weather has once again become pleasant with clouds hovering over the sky accompanied by the gusty winds.
The temperature in the district during the last 24 hours settled at a maximum of 28.7 degrees celsius while the minimum remained 7.8 degrees celsius.
While there was a minus five degree celsius departure in the minimum temperature, there was no change in the maximum temperature, said the India Meteorological Department(IMD).
The IMD has warned that thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorm and gusty winds (wind speed of 30-40kmph) are likely at isolated places of the district on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, farmers have started work on harvesting their Rabi crops.
Deficient rainfall during the winter season has adversely affected the Rabi crop this season. He said that had there been rains in time, the situation would have been good.
He demanded from the state government to order girdawri of crops on a war footing and to give them compensation.
On the other-hand, the situation on drinking water front was also critical in the district and the district agencies have been warned of taking timely steps to provide water to the people through tankers from the places where it was still available in plenty.
