Haste in Goa Cabinet reshuffle could have been avoided: GFP President Sardesai

Panjim, Sept 26 (GCNews) Alliance partner of the ruling BJP government, Goa Forward Party (GFP) has opined that the haste with which the State Cabinet extension was done on Monday by including two ministers could have been avoided by the state government.

“The induction of the new ministers into the Cabinet could have been done in a better way, by taking all concerned Ministers and MLAs on board,” expressed GFP President and TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai.

In the Goa Cabinet reshuffle, Francis D’Souza and Pandurang Madkaikar were dropped on the grounds of ill-health and Nilesh Cabral and Milind Naik were sworn in as ministers are were given the ministerial portfolios of Power and Urban Development.

“The cabinet expansion; the manner and the speed in which it was done, could have been avoided. It has ruffled some feathers“ Sardesai expressed. “I have nothing against the newly inducted ministers. It is an internal issue of the BJP, we have no right to discuss that but in politics one should ensure that any political move, which hurts people and results in bad blood, should be avoided.”

No sooner two ministers were inducted, Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar, who is supporting the Parrikar-led government, tendered his resignation as Chairman of the state-run Goa Forest Development Corporation.

Gaonkar said Tuesday evening that the government has come to a standstill.
