Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Friday directed to shift back former Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh from Dumka jail to Dhanbad jail.
The court of justice SK Dwivedi has directed to execute the order within two weeks. Earlier after hearing the arguments from both the sides the court had kept its order reserved in the case.
The lawyer of Sanjeev Singh had earlier informed the court that to transfer an under trial inmate
from one jail to another prior permission from the lower court is must and in this case without any approval Sanjeev Singh was shifted to Dumka from Dhanbad.
Five months earlier Sanjeev Singh got shifted to Dumka as the jail administration claimed that his
life was under threat. Sanjeev Singh is in jail in connection with hatching the conspiracy for the
murder of his cousin and former Dhanbad deputy mayor Neeraj Singh.
After shifting him to Dumka jail the state government had approached the lower court for approval
but its plea got rejected and the lower court directed to bring Sanjeev Singh back but despite that he
has been kept in Dumka jail after which his lawyers moved to the high court over the issue.
