Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court today denied bail to peasant leader and RTI activist Akhil Gogoi in an NIA case pertaining to his alleged Maoist links. A division bench of Kalyan Rai Surana and Ajit Borthakur passed through
judgement, refusing bail to Gogoi.
Gogoi was arrested in mid-December in 2019 during anti-CAA protests in Assam and has been behind bars since with several cases slapped against him, including NIA case related to purported links of Gogoi with banned Maoists.
He has already procured bail in the other cases, except the NIA case.
