Head Constable Vaman Naik, Govind Gawas accused in Sex-Trade Victims Statement

Pursuing with the F.I.R filed at the Crime Branch in Goa by the panel appointed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) inquiry in the sex-trade racket after the Calangute Police rescued two sex workers in a recent raid; GoaChronicle.com has learnt through a senior police official (on very strict condition of anonymity) and has also confirmed the details with a source of the panel that Head Constable Vaman Naik and another Constable Govind Gawas have been named by the victims as the police officers who have sexually exploited them.

The F.I.R filed by the panel on the statements made by the two rescue victims. In the statements the girls have stated that the above police officers reportedly attached to the Calangute Police Station used to demand sexual favors from them in order to allow them to continue with their prostitution business which was run through pimp by the name of Shah.

They have further added that besides the police officers from Calangute sometimes officers from Mapusa and Bicholim would have been invited by the Calangute officers to further exploit the two girls.

Interestingly though news coming out of the police circles is that the Head Constable Vaman Naik was recently transferred from the Calangute Police Station; but his closeness to certain political factions in both the ruling and previous government saw an attempt to have his transfer stopped.
