Vijayawada: Heavy downpour disrupted normal life in Kadapa and Kurnool districts in Andhra Pradesh as many localities and main roads were inundated on Monday.
Heavy downpour occurred for about two hours in the wee hours this morning resulting in many roads and residential localities inundated disrupting normal life in several towns in the two districts.
The RTC bus depot, Bus stand road, Court road, Ambedkar circle and Gurukul Vidyapeeth road and other main thoroughfares inundated in knee deep water in Kadapa city.
Several residential localities including NGO colony, Ganjikunta colony, Shivanandapura and Kummarikunta colony inundated in rainwater. Two houses collapsed in Sivanandhapuram but no one was hurt in the incident. So is the situation in Mydukur town.
In Kurnool district, heavy rain occurred in the wee hours of today. Normal life was thrown out of gear in Kurnool, Done, Chagalamarri, Dornipadu, Orvakallu, Midthur, Panyam and Velugudu Mandals.
Denizens of various colonies said that the water flowing in canals and streams is being inhibited as weeds and creepers like hyacinth which have spread all over in the canals.
Meanwhile, the inflows to the Srisailam reservoir decreased on Monday.
Official sources said that at present the water level at the project is 815.80 feet and 37.85 TMC of water was impounded.
