Thane/Palghar: Heavy rain wreak havoc in Thane and Palghar districts last night, as a bridge was collapsed on Sapgaon at Shahapur taluka in Thane district, the authorities said.

Giving details, Shahapur Tahsildar Nilima Suryavanshi said that, following downpour in Shahapur taluka the authorities with the help of locals and NDRF teams had to rescue hundreds of stranded people. The residents at Bhatsai were stranded were shifted to a school in the locality.
At Vashind water entered in a housing complex, the people were rescued and shifted to the ZP school, with the help of the NDRF. The similar scene was seen at Cherpoli.
Behind the Drishti hotel in houses, the water had flooded and boats were used to rescue people.
Bhiwandi tehsildar Adik patil said that in Padgha Ganesh Nagar and Khairpada at Bhiwandi, hundreds of people were rescued with the help of the NDRF and TDRF teams.
Thousands were rescued on the banks of the Kamwari river in Bhiwandi, the powerloom town which experienced water logging in several localities due to heavy downpour.
Heavy rain lashed Badlapur too.
At Vangani, at least 70 animals and ten people were stranded due to the flood waters at the Ashram for the disabled animals. They were rescued by the local rescue teams. Again in Bhiwandi Kawad more than a dozen people stranded were rescued. In Kasara and Titwala the stranded were rescued and shifted to the ZP schools.
