Heavy rains disrupt normal life in Mumbai

Mumbai: Heavy rains continued to lash the metropolis and its suburbs on Friday leaving several parts of the city waterlogged.

Owing to heavy rains and waterlogging on slow line near Kurla -Vidyavihar, trains were running late by 20-25 minutes. Slow line traffic between Kurla -Vidyavihar have been diverted on fast line.

Harbor line is also running 20-25 mins late while, Trans – Harbor line traffic is running smoothly.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Department has forecast “moderate rain in city and suburbs with the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places” for the next 24 hours.

The metropolis has recorded 36 mm rains between 0400 hrs and 0700 hrs, while the eastern suburbs and western suburbs recorded more rains of 75 mm & 73 mm respectively.

Mumbai’s famous Mithi river has crossed dangerous level and a high alert has been issued.
