The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party succeeded in keeping their promise not to permit the House to function till they are permitted to discuss in detail Education Minister Babush Monserrate’s detention at the Mumbai airport.
As soon as the House gathered on Thursday, the Opposition was up on its feet demanding that the issue be discussed. Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar argued that they wanted to discuss the conduct of the minister, which according to him, was unbecoming.
However, as Speaker Pratapsing Rane stuck to his ruling given on Wednesday on the Opposition’s adjournment motion, BJP MLAs once again rushed to the well of the House, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the house till 2:30 pm.
Notwithstanding the disruption, demands as slated for discussion on Tuesday and Wednesday were passed amidst noisy scenes and on Thursday morning the Goa Appropriation Bill too was passed. Other than this, no other business was conducted in the House.
