HP: BJP preparing for ‘Mission repeat 2022’ as CM meets PM to discuss issues of state

Hamirpur (HP): The BJP is all set for achieving its ‘Mission repeat 2022’ target aimed at forming its government in the state of Himachal Pradesh once again.

The party had won the last assembly elections in 2017 and the next elections are due in 2022 and that is why it has started Mission repeat 2022 much ahead of the next elections.

The party leadership feels that after the sad demise of the former HP Chief Minister and senior Congress party leader, Vir Bhadra Singh, the Congress party has become weaker as there is none to lead the organisation on the way, Singh had led since the year 1983.

While the BJP organisation has been holding meetings right from the booth level to the state level these days and telling the party cadre not to be complacent and prepare them for the next elections by going to the masses under their respective jurisdictions.

Suresh Kashyap, the state BJP chief is highly optimistic that the party will be able to achieve the Mission repeat 2022 and thereby form its government in the state once again.

Kashyap has been holding online meetings with the party cadre on a weekly basis and seeking feed from them. He has also been telling them to fan out to the masses and tell them the policies and programmes of the party and what the party governments had done at the national and state level for their welfare and wellbeing.

The All India BJP Chief, JP Nadda who hails from Bilaspur district of the state has also toured the state recently thrice and that was a creditable thing for a small state like Himachal Pradesh where its All India chief has paid visits so frequently.

Nadda had told the party cadre at Bilaspur and Kullu recently to be ready for the next elections as they are vital not only for the state but also for the national polity.

He had told them that the opposition was trying to weaken the cause of the BJP but for that, the workers should get united and expose the evil designs of the Congress and Communists in the masses.

Meanwhile, the elevation of Hamirpur MP, Anurag Thakur from the Minister of State to the cabinet rank as the Minister of Sports and Information-cum-Broadcasting has given the impression that the party was not taking the things lightly as far as the state of Himachal Pradesh is concerned.

A recent tour of Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur to Delhi and to have meetings with the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Home Minister, Amit Shah and Anurag Thakur has also added to the speculations that the party is making its all-out efforts to win the hearts of the masses with an eye on the Mission repeat 2022.

The Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi on Saturday and apprised him about the Covid protocol and vaccination programme being undertaken in the state. The Prime Minister congratulated the Chief Minister for successfully carrying out the vaccination drive.

He urged the Prime Minister to sanction bulk drug and medical devices park for the state which would not only promote industrial activities but would also go a long way in generating employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister demanded funds for the construction of the proposed airport at Nagchala in the Mandi district. He also discussed issues regarding strengthening road connectivity in the state.

He urged the Prime Minister to approve the document for financial assistance sent to the central government under tourism infrastructure development project.

The Chief Minister urged Modi to inaugurate 111 MW Sawara-Kuddu hydropower project and 210 MW Luhri stage-I project constructed by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited and to lay the foundation stone of 66 MW Dhaulasidh project. He held a discussion on strengthening information technology and connectivity in the state.

The official sources in the state government told UNI that the Prime Minister had assured the Chief Minister to provide every possible assistance for the development of the state.

Meanwhile, Union Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur who himself is a keen sportsman has also assured the Chief Minister that sports relating activities would get further impetus in the state and funds would not come in this way.

The sports minister, however, told the Chief Minister to provide land for various sports-related projects in the state as land used to be the main hurdle in such like projects earlier.

On other hand, there are indications that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has told the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to have personal interaction with the senior party leaders like Shanta Kumar and Prem Kumar Dhumal and seek their guidance for the next elections.

Notably, people used to meet PK Dhumal at his Samirpur residence not only for paying their respects to him for the elevation of his son Anurag Thakur in the Union cabinet but also to get their various works done.

Sources said Modi told the Chief Minister that the writ of both these leaders still run in different parts of the state and as such, they should be taken along in various functions and public meetings so as to show the united face of the party to the masses.
