Human Rights Panel Constituted

The Goa government has finally constituted the State Human Rights Commission with former Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice Praful Kumar Mishra as the chairman and former District Judge in Goa A D Salkar as a member.
A notification to this effect was issued by Goa Governor Dr. S S Sidhu and will come into effect from the date the two assume charge of their office.
Goa was one of the nine States in the country that had not constituted the Human Rights Commission despite several reminders from the centre and the National Human Rights Commission.
The other States that are yet to constitute this panel are Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Uttaranchal.
