Hyderabad, Dec 6 (GCCurrentAffairs) Public and Social media users hailed Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar as ‘hero’ for quickly eliminating all the four accused in an encounter in the young veterinarian Disha case and offering solace to the grieving parents.
In an action welcomed widely, all the four accused in the ghastly gang-rape and murder of 26-year-old young Veterinarian were killed in crossfire near Shadnagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad, early on Friday.
The four accused — Mohammed Areef, Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (both are truck drivers) Jollu Naveen and Jollu Shiva (both are cleaners) were shot dead by police on NH-44 near Hyderabad , just few meters away from the place where Disha was set ablaze.
After the gruesome incident on November 28, Social media users from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, had demanded “Warangal-style” justice for the Disha.
The reference was to a December 2008 case where two engineering girl students from Warangal were attacked with acid over a suspected case of spurned love. The three suspects were subsequently gunned down in an encounter by police in United Andhra Pradesh .
Incidentally, Mr Sajjanar, who is now the Police Commissioner for Cyberabad, when the incident occurred, was the then Superintendent of police of Warangal district.
Citizens raised slogans in support of the police at the encounter site and showered flower petals on them.
The encounter was welcomed by the father of the victim who said ”the death of the four culprits would bring peace to the soul of Disha”.
