Identity proof made mandatory for hotel guests

In light of the growing incidence against tourists; the District Magistrate, North Goa District has ordered that owners/ management of all Hotels, lodging and boarding, private guest houses, paying guest accommodation of all religious bodies, shall not allow any visitors/guests to check in without proving any Government Identity Proof such as Smart Card, Election Card, driving licence or any other photo identity card issued by the recognized authority.

Secondly they would have to furnish details of all foreigners staying in their premises in ‘C’ form already prescribed by the government and the in charge of such accommodation shall provide all such information for inspection to the Police Authority.
This order shall be in force till April 18, 2011 unless withdrawn earlier.  Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal code states a press release issues by the District Magistrate.
