If you own a Luxury Car or Bike, Get Ready to Pay More!


Those who intend to buy luxury cars and motor-bikes will need to think twice, because the Goa government has proposed to introduce a one-time ‘infrastructure development cess’ on newly purchased motor vehicles priced Rs 10 lakh and above, in the Goa Motor Vehicles (taxation on passengers and goods) Amendment Bill 2012.

The government also proposes to enhance the rates of Green Tax to be levied and collected on the transport vehicles, which have completed 15 years.

Other amendments proposed in the bill is to specify the rate of composition fee of Rs 300 per seat of the currency of the permit for the vehicles registered outside Goa, which are permitted to ply as contract carriages.
