Even though the inaugural date of International Film Festival of India 2010 is fast approaching, the organizers are yet to declare the official list of films to be screened for it and there appears to be some confusion over the matter.
While Shankar Mohan, Joint Director, Directorate of Film Festival said that the list is ready and given to the Press Information Bureau for publicity, PIB officials claimed that they have not yet received the list. Incidentally, the camp office of PIB set up for the event is slated to get operational only on Friday.
It may be recalled that S M Khan, Director of the Film Festival had stated that the 20 jury members had viewed 450 films to select the movies that will be screened for the festival. He also revealed that films from 15 countries including three from India would be screened, however, he did not name any of the movies.
Given the fact that the list of movies to be screened is released at least a month in advance at other international film festivals, the delay at IFFI has not gone down well with the delegates. IFFI is slated to be inaugurated on 22nd November by Yash Chopra in the presence of Union Railways Minister Mamta Banerjee.
