IFFI Gets Underway

Union Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee threw open the 41st International Film Festival of India at a glittering function held at Kala Academy on Monday evening in the presence of a galaxy of film stars both national and international.
In her address, she said that films are an effective medium to showcase the grim reality and added that IFFI provides the opportunity for Indian films to compete with the best international films.

She also promised to take up the matter of taxation with the Union Finance Minister which Chief Guest Yash Chopra had pointed out, was making film making in India an arduous task.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat in his address, highlighted the steps taken by his government to make Goa the preferred destination for the film industry and added that not only national but even international films are being shot in Goa.
