Imran Khan takes oath as Pakistan’s Prime Minister
Islamabad, Aug 18 (UNI) An Oxford educated and world renowned cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan was on Saturday sworn in as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to the 65-year-old former captain of Pakistan cricket team.
Khan took the oath in Urdu.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Khan was elected as the Prime Minister after he outvoted opposition and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Shahbaz Sharif in the election at the Pakistan’s National Assembly on Friday.
Khan polled votes of 176 members – four more than the required 172. His opponent, Shahbaz Sharif, received 96 votes.
