India & China to work for mutually acceptable solution on boundary question: MEA


New Delhi, Dec 21 (GCCurrentAffairs) India and China at crucial talks here on Saturday resolved to intensify efforts to achieve “a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution” to the India-China boundary question.
“Both the Special Representatives (Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and NSA Ajit Doval) underlined the importance of approaching the boundary question from the strategic perspective of India-China relations and agreed that an early settlement of the boundary question serves the fundamental interests of both countries,” an MEA statement said here.
“The Special Representatives resolved to intensify their efforts to achieve a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable solution to the India-China boundary question in accordance with the directives provided by PM Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping,” the statement said.
The statement further said – “The talks were constructive with focus on taking forward the India-China Closer Developmental Partnership as per the guidance provided by Prime Minister Modi and President Xi Jinping at the 2nd Informal Summit at Chennai in October 2019”.
Both sides also reviewed the progress made since the 2nd Informal Summit in Chennai.
“The Special Representative talks is the main channel and an important platform for our negotiations and strategic communications,” Chinese foreign ministry has said earlier.
Both Mr Wang Yi and NSA Doval also shared the view that “stable and balanced development of India-China relations” is a positive factor for peace and prosperity in the region and the world, the statement said
