New Delhi: The COVID-19 contagion continues to tighten its grip over the country with as many as 9987 people testing positive in the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 266598 on Tuesday.
Rise recorded since Monday is so far the highest single-day hike the country has witnessed. More worrisome is the fact every day, the toll is hitting an all time high for the past few days.
According to the health ministry update, fatalities due to the pandemic have reached 7466 across the nation after 266 more people lost their lives to the virus in the past one day.
The cases under active medical supervision have also increased here with the figure now standing at 129917 pan India.
Meanwhile, recoveries have also improved with 4785 contagion survivors being added to the list in the past 24 hours. The total cured and discharged cases are now 129215 pan India.
Delhi Chief Minister, who on Monday went under isolation after having COVID like symptoms, will be tested for the virus today.
